Hi~! Harini Shah nak share macam mana Shah dapat kerja as translator/interpreter for BLACKPINK, WINNER, iKON etc walaupun Shah fail SPM looollll

Kisah bermula selepas SPM
Ok!! Sebenarnya Shah masa sekolah dulu banyak main2 and tak focus belajar. Shah lagi suka spend time belajar Photoshop, music, languages and sports. So lepas SPM I decided to do things I like instead of the things that I have to. So I started my own design company.

For 2 years, my business slow gila. Satu bulan I earn paling banyak RM24 selling my design on tshirts 😂😭 nak gelak ada nak menangis pun ada. Tapi Shah just fikir I'm doing something that I like. At the same time I noticed that Korean music, drama and shows booming in Malaysia

So I thought to myself why not I belajar the Korean language to be able to tap into that market easier. So start dari situ Shah slowly belajar Korean through books and internet. Nak masuk Korean class mahal lahanat and Shah ada RM24 je HAHAHAHHA

Tolong design untuk NGO di Korea.
After a few months, I was able to get in contact with some people to help design for an NGO in Korea. From there I realised that having the ability to speak a different language can give us opportunities that we could never have dreamt of.

I was able to sit down with the Korean ambassador in Malaysia and discuss on the importance of languages and culture between two countries. pic.twitter.com/bFgRyUMNPq

Belajar bahasa Korea dan pindah ke Seoul.
So at this point, I was 6 months into learning Korean by myself and I wanted to push myself further. So I dropped everything in Malaysia, took out the last RM700 of savings I had and moved to Seoul alone. I stayed in the cheapest 16 people dorm and ate bread for every meal 😂 pic.twitter.com/7XUHwqu6SH

I was able to spend roughly 14 months in an out of Korea and made many Korean friends. We would help each other out learning languages and culture. My Korean language skills improved tremendously sebab kat Korea memang tak guna English langsung

Bermula kerjaya sebagai penterjemah.
In Korea, I was approached by a Malaysian broadcasting company and I helped them film a variety show as they needed someone who can speak Bahasa, English and Korean. I helped guide many Malaysians who came to Korea for holiday and helped with music video productions in Seoul. pic.twitter.com/I8JTXAmS25

So then my Korean friend who lives in Malaysia contacted me saying that an event organizer was looking for translators/interpreters for Kpop concerts. At this point I wasn't confident enough to work as a translator but decided to give it a try. So my first concert was with iKON pic.twitter.com/99Iux15aWd

iKON and WINNER had a back to back concert so I worked in both events. It was one of the scariest, challenging yet memorable job I've ever taken. Kerja dengan Korean team sangat demanding in sense of timing, accuracy and efficiency. You salah translate satu perkataan siap la 😂😭 pic.twitter.com/ApXbEzy0GC

Konsert Blackpink paling best!
So Shah focus more on learning production terms. Patch cable, timecode, stage lift, SFX, semua ni nak kena tahu on top of the Korean language. Paling challenging is nama members. Sekali tu director suruh check microphone Bobby. Allahuu mana satu pulak dia ni 😭😭 rasa nak nangis

Tapi so far paling best for me was BLACKPINK concert. Production dia besar lain macam. Total 2 days concert 14,000 fans datang. Stress takyah cakap ah. Setiap jam rasa nak terkeluar otak 😭😭 tapi worth it gilaa ❤️ pic.twitter.com/RfMmYQ2r2K

I also did some small concerts / fanmeets. Dreamcatcher fanmeet was memorable too. The members were so nice and their staffs were super cool. So camni la life Shah sekarang. Ulang-alik Korea and help out in concerts etc.. all because I wanted to have more than RM24 😂😂 pic.twitter.com/9d4PDGcKgu

Ramai tanya apa maksud concert translator/interpreter. Well basically your job scope is to be the middle person between Korean team and local team. Contoh: nak pasang stage/control lighting & VCR/sound check/special effects. For me I selalu translate for sound director and artist pic.twitter.com/9zwnYQBf50
